Countering terrorism through social science-based development assistance is a new policy model that moves beyond traditional methods based on the application of military force, public diplomacy, pressure to democratize, or broad-based poverty alleviation. The core elements of this framework for countering violent extremism (CVE) involve,First reducing marginalization of peripheral communities and encouraging re-integration,The second providing locally based counter-narratives to those of violent extremist organizations, and Third increasing the legitimacy and capacity of partner governments in the world.Violent extremist threats come from a range of groups and individuals, including domestic terrorists and homegrown violent extremists in the United States, as well as international terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIL. Lone offenders or small groups may be radicalized to commit violence at home or attempt to travel overseas to become foreign fighters.

One of the most important models and the best in my opinion in the fight against armed extremism is the Aarhus model. Here is the reason :
The Aarhus model works because it has created trust between authorities and the social environment in which extremists operate. As Allan Aarslev, the police commissioner that runs the programme, remarked, ‘I would like to prosecute these people’ but in the absence of evidence, ‘it’s better to help them when they come back than to leave them alone’. Aarhus is also known for its 'exit programmes' which are designed as ‘microlevel’ interventions: instead of imprisonment they offer employment options for those that want to leave extremist organisations.

Prevent is one of four strands of the Government’s counter terrorism strategy – CONTEST. The UK,Belgium and most part of the Europe currently faces a range of terrorist threats. Terrorist groups who pose a threat to the countries in the Europe continent seek to radicalise and recruit people to their cause. Therefore, early intervention is at the heart of Prevent which aims to divert people away from being drawn into terrorist activity.Prevent happens before any criminal activity takes place by recognising, supporting and protecting people who might be susceptible to radicalisation. Each strategy on all European union countries must contain several key things то confers mandatory duties and responsibilities on a range of public organisations, including Further Education providers, and seeks to:
Respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views.
Provide practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and violent extremism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support.
Work with a wide range of sectors where there are risks of radicalisation which needs to be addressed, including education, criminal justice, faith, the internet and health.

Schools need to assess the risk, with local partners, of their children being drawn into terrorism, as well as their support for extremist ideas and terrorist ideology. They should have robust safeguarding policies to identify children at risk, appropriate intervention and the most appropriate referral option. Schools should ensure that their staff are equipped to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism, as well as challenge extremist ideas. They should know how to refer children and young people for further help. free training about radicalisation awareness, Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent , may be a suitable option.IT policies: Schools are expected to ensure that children are safe from online terrorist and extremist material in school, typically via appropriate levels of filtering.

The Internet plays a positive and important role in our lives. Internet enabled devices and gaming consoles are present in most households and access to the Internet is available in many public locations.A huge effort is being made across the world to counter online extremism and terrorism, while protecting the online freedom of legitimate users. However, we all have a role in ensuring that not only do we stay safe while using the internet, but that we protect others who may be vulnerable to the dangers of online radicalisation.
With regard to radicalisation and recruitment, the Internet can reinforce ideological messages, make it easy to join formal organisations and can create an environment where unacceptable views and behaviours are perceived to be normal. Across the UK, there have been many examples of vulnerable people being recruited by violent extremists such as ISIS to either travel to Syria or Iraq or indeed to bring the war to their own towns and cities.

Parents and professionals who have a stake in a young person's wellbeing should take an active interest in their Internet usage. This should include discussing world events related to extremism and the dangers that online activity can present. This includes not only challenging unacceptable online activity, but also supporting those vulnerable to being radicalised. Various measures have been used in the last few years to restrict or deny access to extremism related material but the removal of websites or blogs is difficult. As Internet users, we have an important role in keeping ourselves and others safe from inappropriate material. It must be considered as simple safeguarding.

Any strategy hoping to counter online radicalisation must aim to create an environment in which the production and consumption of such materials become not just more difficult in a technical sense but unacceptable as well as less desirable. This includes:the selective use of takedowns in conjunction with prosecutions as a means of signalling that cyberspace is not beyond the law, and that individuals involved in the production and dissemination of extremist materials might face prosecution. the establishment of an independent start-up fund for grassroots initiatives to provide seed money for online projects aimed at countering extremist messages. The aim is to create a mechanism through which communities’ goodwill and enthusiasm can be translated into concrete and positive action without compromising their integrity and credibility

Online radicalism or the extremism represent safe social networks that people are using with terrorist targets. They use safety with what they are free to consult for their terrorist targets around the world. Those social networking sites they use on a very cruel way. They endanger the safety of people, spread fear, confusion, insecurity and so on. Social mediums like face-book, you-tube, twitter and corporation Microsoft announce that they are forming a word working group that will unite forces for eliminating terrorist content from their platforms. But their elimination or prevention can never be complete, because there always can be made a new profile with a new content.

Warnings about radicalism and extremism can be reported through the tools of each social network. With what you choose the appropriate report and you send it to the base of the social network where the report is being analyzed and depending on the content is removed from the social networks or remains on the social networks. You can also warn your friends through social networks about the dangers of radicalism and extremism. Those same friends if they feel threatened by any content that represents radicalism can report it which increases the chances of its being removed from social networks for a relatively shorter time period

Radicalization comes as a result of misinterpretation of religion, when people begin to take things literally. Only by raising people's awareness of themselves and their society we could minimize the factors that will lead to a person participating in a war. Every conversation that they start they will find a way to connect it with the religion. This is the way I distinguish whether this person is radical or not. We would recognize a radical person in the way he approaches religion. The word "Islam" means peace Most of them don't know Islam because they do not learn it. When a person interferes with the integrity of another person, it could be seen as a sign of radicalization. Radicalized people can be recognized by the way they approach social networks. For example, publishing positive comments on Facebook about going to Syria and Iraq. From these things one can score how that person thinks about these questions.

Employing more people with understanding/background from/about religion, and connoisseurs of the Arabic language. Collaboration with religious leaders to educate their servants and employees for a better understanding of religion, which will help them to make a more precise distinction between people who practice conservative Islam and individuals who actually have violent tendencies. Training police officers how to recognize the early signs of radicalization and how to approach such cases. Investigation of possible areas where policing programs like police and community (community policing) can be used to prevent violent extremism.

Developing programs to prevent radicalization. You should work with former extremists who gave up from their violent beliefs, since they can all together reach out to the young people who are in the early stages of indoctrination. To develop educational programs on the phenomenon of radicalization and to actively resist extremist propaganda among the believers in all mosques in order to counter extremist propaganda in their municipalities and schools.
The identification of potential sources of the extremist propaganda and the same being reported respectively to the authorities. To be more transparent in cases of prosecution of persons suspected of acts related to violet extremism - The capacities of the Public Prosecutor's Office should be strengthened in dealing with cases related to the participation in foreign wars

Political extremists and terrorists are using the internet as an instrument for radicalisation and recruitment. An alternative method is known as content filtering (sometimes also referred to as dynamic filtering). Rather than banning entire IP addresses, the content filtering software ‘sniffs’ each information packet for content that matches a list of blacklisted keywords. This is an expensive means of filtering, because it requires whole data streams to be reassembled when keywords are split between differentpackets. Furthermore, because many sites that contain blacklisted keywords may not be extremist at all – some, in fact, may be dedicated to countering extremist propaganda – governments would also have to maintain (and constantly update) a ‘white list’ of permitted sites against which any request for information would be compared.

The risks presented by the online world are vast and young people are often naïve to the dangers. These dangers can include;cyberbullying, sexting, access to information that could fuel bad decisions (eating disorders, self-harm, suicide) and in recent years radicalisation. As these risks grow and evolve, schools are playing catch-up in a bid to stay ahead of the changes and keep students safe.
Everyone has a responsibility to take action to report any concerning content online: Report extremist content to social media providers. Whatever the approach taken, any new strategy ought to reflect the fact that radicalisation is a real-world phenomenon that occurs not just in cyberspace but in communities across the country, and whose consequences are not confined to cyberspace but can be a matter of life and death

The changes to the threats – the fact that they can be easily and quickly disseminated via the Internet and social media to anyone, heedless of regional boundaries – make it important that these risks and dangers are considered for every child, right across the country. This includes those places that have not traditionally seen themselves as being at risk. If you have a concern about a child in respect of extremism and the support options are not available locally, follow your existing child protection process to report concerns.in terms of devising the right online environment, the South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL) created 360 degree safe, an online self-review tool for schools to assess, plan and improve their wider online safety provision.

Empowering online communities to self-regulate and enforce their own standards of what is considered acceptable. We recommend the creation of an Internet Users Panel that would strengthen reporting mechanisms and complaints procedures, thereby enabling internet users to be more effective in ‘policing the online communities to which they belong.Reducing the appeal of extremist messages.more attention should be paid to media literacy as a way of strengthening young people’s ‘defences’ against extremist messages. A comprehensive review of existing approaches will be necessary to ensure that measures for countering online hate are appropriately considered and all stakeholders’ contributions are maximised. Don't join groups that provoke radicalism and extremism don't share your information with anybody. It's easy to learn about the threads going around online from sites such as this one. We can help each other and be supportive of one another rather than picking on each other and bringing each other down

Internet is the best way for sharing radicalisation, extremism or anything else that can cause hate, fight or maybe war because there are some of the people who is writing the posts and hidding behind his mask. We can prevent radicalisation and extemism with thinking before posting something that can affect on the others, look for more sources for the same information and then sharing it, warning others for possible dangers etc. However the best protection is non-using the internet.. But the problem isn't in the internet. The problem is in us - in our thoughts. We don't need internet to share something about someone and put theirs live in risk.

I would advice my friends and peers not to be misled and misinformed by the posts on the social media which talk about religion, political or other things that can provoke hate between people or the worst, a war between them as well as not to join groups that promote the religion, political or other things that can provoke hate between people. Everyone should check few sources for the same information and see where does this information come from, who is behind that. So later when he hear that fake information from someone he won't believe in it bc he knows the true side of the story.

Ways to do self-monitoring: turn on your location on the phones, don't share everything with everyone bc there is someone that is hidding behind his mask, don't joinig in the groups with violent views. Location on my phone is always turned on bc if i lost it i can easily find it with the use of internet. So the same is with us.. If somenone put target on use and use his special hacker skills he will find and hurt us or some of ours.. I just wanted to say that in order to save our phone we are putting our live in danger. The other thing is sharing informations that we heard about something but we dont know if that is true or not, so with that we are putting ours or the others live in risk.

Individuals may be drawn to violent extremist movements for a myriad of reasons. It may be related to their own spiritual search for purity, for discipline, or a desire to be part of something greater than themselves. Peacebuilders should be diligent in their engagement with donors, state governments, and stakeholders to decouple the negative and often misrepresented associations between peaceful positive ideology and violent extremism.

Violent is everywhere around us. It is in every corner in which we are or aren't looking in. We can try to change that with changing the thoughts of the people that are causing violet. Advicing them to discover something more about it, go to seminars etc. Also, one has to be aware of the type and amount of personal information he displays and makes available on his social accounts, because with doing that he automatically becomes more vulnerable to groups which aims are to radicate individuals and spread wrong views and thoughts.

We can do self-monitoring by being very cautious with who we become "friends" on social media, not contacting with someone or a group we don't know in real life, keeping our private information just for us and don't share it with anyone, and being very careful about what we post( so our posts can't lead to hate, insulting or misunderstanding)

Keeping your friends safe from persuasion on the internet can be very tricky because 1: non of your friends are self-willingly allow to see their personal history or persenal seacrets. secondly spoting their personality changes can be either very hard or very easy depending on the person but you cant say that their a terrorist just for changing their behaviour. The real way you indentify that someone is being brain washed is to listen to their talking if someone is talking about killing in the name of god or is saying that people deserve to die for being different you can immediately tell that they are under some sort of influence. If they do start talking about that tell it to their parents or inform the local police if he starts to do something fishy.

2. How to help your friends and peers not to be misled by online radicalisation / extremism?
I would talk to them and try to make them aware of the online radicalisation/extremism so they will make no mistakes while online. I need to make them more consciousness about the danger that is existing. And they need to feel safe always online, by taking enough care about their privacy, way of talking, own opinion about radicalism/extremism etc.

Keep safe by being careful not to give out personal information – such as your full name, e-mail address, passwords, phone number, home address, photos or school name – either to people you are chatting with online or by posting it online where other people can see it. Social media use shouldn’t be discouraged, but it’s a parent's role to make sure that social media is used responsibly, and that your children are aware of the tools at their disposal to make social media a safe environment for them.

In order to prevent violent radicalization and extremism, it is very important to find the reasons why our friends have radicalized, which is the reason for this to avoid the consequences. For me as a young person, it is important that I can help where there are such influences, to point out the consequences, to tell them that life is one and only and that such a thing should be lived. Radicalism and extremism have occurred that harm the community and nothing good can be obtained from it. Violent radicalization and extremism can be recognized and at the same time it is very important to find the reasons why such a phenomenon has occurred in those of our friends who have radicalized, for the reason (financial, religious, national), thereby preventing the situation and to avoid the consequences. For me as a young person, it is important that I can help where there are such influences, to point out the consequences, to tell them that life is one and only and that such a thing should be lived. Radicalism and extremism have occurred that harm the community and nothing good can be obtained from it. Much important in preventing young people who are radicalized, they should be accepted from the environment in which they live, so they are included in the social life.
